Home Furnishing Focus 2016

Last month I visited Heimtex and Maison Objet. Maison championed a theme of ‘The Wild’ looking at ‘NATURE’, ‘PURITY’ and ‘WELL-BEING’ – the essence of the show was ‘Calm’ and exhibited a real Scandinavian Simplicity.

Heimtex offered a broader inspirational experience with emphasis also on ‘Well-Being’ and ‘Nature’ but also ‘Technology / The Digital Age’ and ‘Luxurious Craft’, giving a good variety of Colour, Texture and Technique that can be applied to different markets.

With these and other Trend Influences, I will start the year with the following directions:

Connecting with Nature:

Looking at Natural markings and patterns from Fossils, Wood, Pebbles, Water. Playing with layers and Textures to achieve Earthy and Distressed effects.

NATURE TEXTURE TREND

Trend favourite: ‘Victoria’- Fabulous Digital Print

Home Furnishings 2016

Earlier in January, SUBLITEX were exhibiting at the Home Furnishings event HEIMTEXTIL in Frankfurt.

1

Showcasing an attractive selection of Printed Design across Digital, Gravure and Foils. The display was colourful, textural and showed a sophisticated variety of style and technique.

2

Sublitex welcomed customers from all over the world who were looking for Design solutions for their businesses. The Sublitex range is TREND focussed and enables customers to find the style that suits their market.

The general objective for people visiting Heimtex is to look at TREND suggestions, buy ARTWORK from the extensive selection in the Design Hall and, probably most importantly, meet with suppliers to kick-start this year’s collections.

From wall coverings to curtain poles, there is something for everyone and a real mixture of trends within each hall.

The ‘Theme Park’ is an experience in itself, this area picks out favourite fabrics and wall coverings from exhibitors and displays them in a dramatic manner to draw you in and focuses on 4 Trend Themes. This is always a nice way to start the trip to Heimtex as it allows you to observe and, where suitable, apply these suggestions to your own market.

This Year’s Themes:

‘PROTECT’: Clean aesthetic, or crisp, understated design.

‘ENERGISE’: Looking at a Digital age

‘NOURISH’: Urban and Natural landscapes

‘ENRICH’: Decorative luxury

I will focus more on this in my Trend blog post but for now, please see an overview of the show below:

Heimtextil Show, Frankfurt

Heimtextil is an International fair held for 4 days each January in Frankfurt, Germany. The show is enormous and over several floors in 8 halls and covers every domestic and contract textile from bath mats to window blinds. Most designers will head there either as exhibitors or visitors in order to visit the trend hall and studios for new ideas and artwork. I bought designs with the UK contract furnishing market in mind while there.

If you do not know this show you can find out more by visiting heimtextil.messefrankfurt.com which has some interesting photographs plus full exhibitor information. Top tip for anyone ever considering going, comfortable foot wear and a layering of clothes so that you can shed when you come in from the cold outside. This year it was not too bad as there have been years with deep deep snow.

I was there as the agent for Sublitex and here are a few pictures of their stand.
