Tuesday night saw the start of a new series ‘ Interior Design Masters’. “Ten talented designers. One life changing contract. Alan Carr and interiors guru Michelle Ogundehin are on the hunt for talent, passion and dazzling designs.” It’s a nice bit of escapism and also inspiring. It got me thinking about interior style and the current trends that are emerging. As a bit of a follow on from ‘The Serpent’ blog post I have decided to look at ‘Mid Century’ style and take inspiration from the 50s and 60s.
A lot of us are working from home at the moment and spending a lot of time staring at the same four walls – why not make those four fabulous walls. Our surroundings are so important for our mental wellbeing; it can effect our mood and how we feel so much.
Mid Century Style
Inspired by the cool, industrial style of the 1950s and 60s. This period was defined by its clean lines and uncomplicated, highly functional design, the furniture typically takes on a utilitarian edge with metal and wood finishes. This is beautifully offset by a vibrant colour palette; the likes of burnt oranges, mustard yellows and teal blue.

Graham and Brown
Graham and Browns new limited edition collection entitled ‘ Through the decades’ spans from the 40’s to the 70’s. This wallpaper ‘Coronation Craze’ represents the 1950’s.
Rounded geos are the star of the show in this teardrop design, boasting shots of primary colours against a crisp backdrop. As well as being sleek and polished, this fabulous wallpaper design has a cosiness and warmth to it, a great addition to any wall.
