Trends continually morph and from the tie dye and splatter prints to the wooly description of a “non print print” we have now arrived at “marble prints”. Not the dastardly glass balls on which to break your ankles in the playground but the Noble stone type.
Some requests are for something as near a possible to the real thing with veins in natural muted shades and others are looser representations.
Running alongside the natural marble trend is that for Venetian or Japanese Suminagashi crafted marbling where the artist floats oily pigments on water, swirling the colours and them laying paper or fabric on top to transfer the pattern onto the substrate.
Lastly there is interpretation that is less realistic from soft pastel shades through to something brighter and bolder. Ultimately these fall into the infamous non print print category..
