This week from Alannah…

I’m currently studying photography, particularly fashion photography, at Nottingham Trent University. I’m contributing to The Print Affair from a student’s eyes and last Tuesday, I was lucky enough to visit the Sublitex London Preview:

The Preview was showing the new collection, which is to be launched this week in Paris at the Indigo Fair in Premiere Vision. I got a fantastic insight into a busy day full of appointments, as well as a chance to see the amazing new collection. It was hosted in the luxurious Nash Suite at the grand Melia White House Hotel, just round the corner from Great Portland Street Station.

The show was for Sublitex clients, who are fabric convertors, and a chance for their clients, who are garment manufacturers for the UK High Street, to see the new print designs and colour ranges.

I learnt about new trends that are coming up this year including 70’s style, stripes, tropical prints (hello, pineapples!) and more.

Some of the digital prints were an amazing explosion of shapes and colour while others were dream like visions of melted watercolour flowers. Digital printing is a new and exciting area where creative design knows no limits. It was such an interesting day; being able to see all kinds of digital and traditional prints, as well as watching clients and designers discuss and choose designs and colour ways.
